Soft Series 2024
Espersen´s sculptures disrupt the boundary between hot-sculpted and kiln-worked glass, letting go of traditional tools and rules that limit the spontaneity of glass. Each work consists of several solid elements, each being stretched, folded and shaped by hand with Kevlar gloves. As she stacks each element in the kiln, some go in hot and malleable, allowing her to fuse singular elements into groupings. There are only seconds to decide the final shape and placement of each element before she exits the hot kiln, leaving it up to the heat of the kiln to finalize each shape.
