Image of Reality

Vinyl and window

I drew the outline of my own reflection in a window by pushing a piece of vinyl against it with a blunt instrument. Unless seen from certain angles the image appears to be nothing but a piece of vinyl.

Influenced by the writings of Jean Baudrillard, this is the almost invisible image of reality; empty and fake, without any substance: A parody and a simulation that is not real.

As time passes the image gets distorted and even further removed from its original reality. It gets as far as to a point where you can barely see an image in it. Were this superficial image to be taken away from its position, it would disappear completely, as the fragile line only exist in between the layer of vinyl and glass.
